To the present day traveller hastening along the A6 in south Leicestershire, Kibworth appears to be just one village some nine miles south of Leicester at the end of the Great Glen by-pass dual carriageway. In fact, it is two distinct villages with their own Parish Councils - Kibworth Harcourt, lying mainly to the north-east of the A6 trunk road, and Kibworth Beauchamp, to the south-west.

The Parish Church of St. Wilfrid serves both villages with a variety of religious services and activities for young and old. This anglican church has a fascinating history. There was the Puritan Rector (John Yaxley) physically ejected in August 1660. The tower had to be rebuilt between 1832 and 1836 following the collapse of the 160 foot high six-faced spire in 1825; it houses the clock signed by John Hanbury of West Haddon and dated 1834 (plus a third clock face which was fitted in 1997 by Richard White). There was considerable controversy when plain pews replaced the box pews in 1846. Then there is the font which was used as a horse trough for 200 years - to find out why, surf on!!

Revd. Ludger Fremmer, formerly Curate in the Mattishall Benefice in Norfolk, has been appointed Priest-in-Charge of the Kibworth Benefice following his Licensing Service on 10th September 2007.  We welcome Ludger, his wife, Ruth, and their two sons, Jacob and Reuben.
